Project description The name of the project contains the Sanskrit syllable "sam" (together with). It can be understood as referring to the basic note "sa" just as the "samam" (the common starting point in the metrical tala cycle) and "samvâdi" (the musical note with a consonant aspect).

The name of the research project "Sam, Reflection, Gathering Together!" thus points to a common denominator in the otherwise differentiated teaching, interpretation and performance practices of South India's music, dance and drama traditions.
